Cornelia locked Anoé away in another dimension a long time ago. He is a demon of discord and a peddler of allegiances. It is said that he was the one who whispered of rebellion to Lucifer and drove him to turn his allegiance from The Almighty. Cornelia is deaf to his taunts and sickly sweet pleadings, but he is so crafty that sometimes he manages to force an entry into this world to try and connive and plot his way out. Thankfully the cubic anterooms containing him are indestructable. But who knows what Anoé might achieve if he sets his sights on lesser-experienced members of the Bachmann clan?

These are the first five pages for my comic book-assignment at Ringling. It was the last one, and it had to be done in six weeks time. The fifth page is just composed of the imagery I managed to finished, no lay-out, and none of the pages has got any text yet. There is a sixth page, but I'll upload it when I've finished all of them, and then I can start on the second half of the story. I'm not gonna write down what it's about yet, since I don't want to spoil too much yet.

Next assignment was a CD cover, and the choice of artist and illustration was completely free. At the moment Rude boy by Rihanna had just come out, and I was kind of addicted to it. I took elements from the clip and arranged them to my personal taste. What I wanted to come out most was the joyful and playful eighties vibe, together with the vibrant colors and African motifs.
In this assignment we had free pickings of whichever singer, actor/actress, or person in the spotlight we found interesting to illustrate. The idea was to depict that person in such a fashion as to illustrate a certain aspect of their life or personality. It was to be more of a symbolic portrait than a full-on photographic rendition. I chose Jennifer Connelly because she is one of my favorite actresses of all time, and I put her in a surreal setting surrounded by silhouetted strangers. These actually represent her filmic love-interests; she has a knack of playing a heroine who falls for freaks and aliens. in this case The Hulk from the movie with the same name, Keanu Reeves in The day the earth stood still and David Bowie from Labirynth, way back in the day.
This is the first asignment I had over in America, we had a list of cult movies we could choose from to make two posters of... I chose One flew over the cuckoo's nest, where I put an older Jack Nicholson in the straight jacket since I had the impression he was becoming more and more cookoo with age... The second one I opted for was The magnificent seven. The type was somewhat rushed because we had so much work following this assignment, so I'm not terribly happy with it. Of course, if St-Lucas had ever done the effort to actually teach us typography and lay-out, I might be somewhat further, but oh well.
